Back in Mexico, John Horse encountered more troubles with the Nacimiento land grant. An Englishman purchased a questionable deed to the land and then conspired with the state governor to oust the mascogos. The community wanted to send someone to appeal the case to the federal government in Mexico City. John Horse was chosen for the mission.
