John Horse's heirs and followers settled in Nacimiento, Mexico,
and Kinney County, Texas, where descendants still live to this day.
Black Seminoles continued to serve as scouts until 1914. Though
their history was almost forgotten, their accomplishments echoed
throughout American history. Were the Black Seminoles American
heroes?
