By the Mid-19th century, Osceola had entered the mainstream of the American consciousness. In addition to the towns and mountains named in his honor, a number of commercial items paid homage to his popularity, ranging from Clement's Genuine Osceola Indian Liniment to the steamship Osceola that plied the tourist-infested waters of Florida.
Becoming a tobacco shop figure was perhaps not the ultimate honor paid to the chief, but it certainly spoke to his endurance in the public eye decades after his death.
